Kimberly L. Wright’s poetry has appeared in several publications, including The Indianapolis Review, UCity Review and The Comstock Review. Her first poetry collection, NOT PICTURED, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2020.

Wright was born in Hollywood, Florida. After moving briefly to Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, her family relocated to Saraland, Alabama, before moving to Mobile, Alabama, where she graduated from high school and college.
She graduated from the University of South Alabama, where she and interned for literary journal Negative Capability and served on the editorial board of a campus literary journal.
Wright moved to the Bootheel of Missouri for a few years. She briefly attended graduate school at the University of Memphis before getting sidetracked into journalism as the editor of a weekly newspaper, the Democrat-Argus, which has since changed its name.
She moved to Montgomery to join the copy desk at the Montgomery Advertiser, a position she held for three years. She also worked as part of the online team at the Advertiser. She ended up spending 18 years in Montgomery and Prattville, Alabama, during which time she worked for the Civil Air Patrol, the Maxwell-Gunter Dispatch and Raycom Media.
In 2018, she moved to the Atlanta metro area with a son, a dog, and a cat as part of a job-related relocation.
Wright is the outgoing treasurer of the Georgia Poetry Society and previously served as secretary for the Alabama State Poetry Society. She has also written legacy letters for those preparing for the end of their lives.
When she isn’t writing poetry or trying to make a living, Wright enjoys watching birds, reading poetry, walking, meditating and doing yoga.
