Toward a new year

I’m not one that undertakes new year’s resolutions. I feel any day, any month, any week is ripe for either changing my course or maintaining the current heading. The calendar really doesn’t enter into it.

As I sail into yet another month without work, I’m still looking for something that will keep my ship from hitting the rocks. I’ve sent out 80 job applications and also have a freelance article in the works, as well as other feelers out.

Recently, I’ve attained an SEO certification from Hubspot and have other courses in the works. Hubspot’s courses are much better done that Alison‘s, so much so that it’s hard to even ponder going back to Alison for anything.

I’m also reading How Clients Buy by Tom McMakin and Doug Fletcher to try to get me thinking more along the lines of being a service provider with clients for what I may be doing next. Maybe I can provide more value to the world as a consultant rather than an employee. I want to have the knowledge to make that leap.

Looking back on this year, it’s started out rough and just stayed that way, with a coupe de grace toward the end. Next year doesn’t look to be a picnic, either. It stinks to be in such a vulnerable position, but I’m getting through it one day at a time. I’ll either survive, or I won’t.
