Clearing my head

There’s nothing quite like touching grass, as the kids say. Yesterday, my son and I went to Oxbo Park in Roswell, and there’s a bridge from that park to Vickery Creek National Recreation Area. By the time we got there, it was already too late, and we had to turn around.

But that brief little jaunt was very restorative for our souls, and we really need to explore it more.

This particular slice of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area is about 3.8 miles, (which would be plenty for me).

But there are many more trails available to explore. There’s even a waterfall in the mill area.

And I was able to go to Lake Allatoona at Galt’s Ferry Day Use. It was quite busy with families and music, the parking lot full, but beautiful.

I plan on taking my son there maybe during the week when it’s less busy.

Lake Allatoona was created in the early 20th century from the damming of Little River. It’s the source of drinking water.
