Time is groaning on. I found out earlier this week that one of my former copy editor co-workers died last month. I guess considering his many and lengthy health problems, it was good he was able to live to the ripe old age of 61, but still, it was sobering to know that he was gone from this mortal plane. We spent many hours breathing the same air, times I wouldn’t really describe as pleasant, particularly considering the overall oppressive atmosphere of the place and the attitude of certain people. But all that is gone now, people, jobs, etc. A blend of mismanagement, vulture capitalism and social media algorithms have laid all that low.
And it looks like, judging from social media posts, they’ve laid off a bunch of people at Cox Media Group — talk about vulture capitalism! I think it’s Apollo that holds an interest in that particular company. Not a good sign when you’re laying people off during an election year.
